 SNOOZE NEWS

Isn’t it depressing to read the news? Having just got to my desk and read the news I’ve discovered that a bill is going through parliament which means that car users in Britain are going to be charged for using the roads, now in principle I wouldn’t be against this because the roads are so congested and carbon emissions high, so you would think that this would be a good option… and had we the transport links they have in London then I am sure it would be as there would be so many alternatives, BUT we don’t and so all that will happen is the less well off (probably including myself) will find it even more of a strain to run a car, whilst the upper echelons will still have no trouble in taking their gas guzzling 4x4s out onto the streets every morning, and holding up the buses! Here in Britain, we already pay a fortune out to run our cars, we have huge taxes on Petrol, then we pay car tax as well which isn’t cheap and insurance is never cheap, so depending on what they are proposing as charges then it could be crippling. It wouldn’t be so bad as I say if they provide alternatives… safe cycle routes, and reliable buses would be a good start… or even a decent car sharing network instead of the crap ones on offer now! So anyway, there is something for all of us car owners to look forward to!

On a higher note in the news though, the exchange rate from pound to dollar is pretty damn good at the moment, meaning if I buy things of US ebay, they will work out pretty cheap… hold me back I’m going in! :o)

 Escape

Lastnight was good. It’s been quite a while since Peter and I went out ‘just the two of us’ so lastnight we decided that once Peter was out of his meetings we were going to try a new bar in Coventry city centre called escape. I wore my new dress which is really smart and head over to Peter’s, who always looks lovely, then we hopped in a taxi to the door of the new bar only to find it was closed :o( There was a man coming out, locking up, and he told us it had been open but had closed because of problems with the cellar, and would be great on Wednesday night… yes well that’s all very well and good but we’re not out on Wednesday night, we were out on Tuesday night… So off we went to Prague! I love Prague under usual circumstances, but it was unusually dead! There were several men in there, no ladies really, and the shelves looked rather unstocked… I could see no baby piper, which is always disheartening! After a drink, we decided to walk to Spon Street, in hope of going to the Tin Angel… scuppered, it was closed. So we went into 1450 café bar. Now it was really nice in there, I always like it in there anyway, it is a Tudor building with exposed beams and just has a really nice atmosphere, I think going in 1450 made the night for Peter and I. There was a girl from school in there, I said hello but that was about it, but Peter and I had a really nice drink in there! It was so nice just to go out and chat and laugh and not be stuck in front of the TV/Laptop/magazines (delete as appropriate) and spend some time together.

With an attack of the munchies we head off to Dragon Pheonix, where we had 20 minutes to eat from the Chinese buffet before they closed… I think Peter was totally impressed by my mastery of the chop sticks…although he didn’t say lol! The food was lovely, although the £30 bill was a bit of a sting in the tail, most Chinese takeaways are around £10 for 2 to eat, so I don’t know what happened there! Anyway after that we head off home. Despite the fact that midweek Coventry seems to be like a ghost town, many of the places unopened or unfrequented, I think we had a fab time, and I have the hang over today to prove it!!!!!

What is it with Coventry though? I will never understand, they invest all this money in making it far better than it ever has been… and then people insist on not using it… if it were London, the place would be packed. They should Londonise Coventry! That would wonderful!

 101 things.................. I can't think of!

Well folks, I’m not sure if I have told you before but I am absolutely dying for this book:

It’s called 101 things to buy before you die! So very me don’t you think? Anyway, I have been weighing it up now for several days along with 2 other books which I am interested in, one being The Goddess Guide,

Which having looked at it I think I only want because of the nice flocked cover, and it’s vintage darling

Anyway, mum bought me the vintage on (result!!) albeit wrapped up for Christmas, and I keep umming and aahhing about whether to click the buy with one click on Amazon for the 101 things to buy! Anyway, in the meantime, I thought I don’t really have to be ruled by other people’s lists do I? I mean, I love writing lists, writing lists makes my life a better place, and so a list I began. It’s called, ‘101 things I’d like to own, buy or be bought before I die.’ Now, when I finish the list, I fully intend to share it’s contents with the blogosphere, however, what a lame situation I am in when since the inception of this list (yesterday) there are only five items on it. Admittedly five luxurious expensive items on it, but five nonetheless… what does this mean? Have I lost my materialistic desires? I truly hope not, perhaps it is just a case of listing block and it will shortly return to me? … perhaps it’s more of a case of many of the things I have previously wanted I have had the good fortune to acquire? … perhaps the book 101 things to buy before you die should be on my list? Who knows? But watch this space, it might take a while, but I will get to 101 things!!!!!!!!!
