Well folks… I’m 25 today.
I have to say despite my reservations of last week, I have had a lovely birthday! Saturday I went and got my hair cut, it looks really nice (even if I do say so myself) it’s sort of shoulder length and curled, like a Christina/Marilyn/Scarlett Johannsen type style! Then Saturday night Peter, mum and I went to the Leamington bar and grill for dinner. We had lovely food, I had some lovely pork with mash potato and apple and veg. To top it off we had this lovely big chocolate ice cream pudding to share yum yum! I had a fair few glasses of champagne, and again in the bar after. So needless to say I was a little worse for wear on the journey home and fell asleep in the car! I had a lovely night and then stayed a Peters.
Sunday, we had intended to go to a craft fair, but the thunder and rain storms made it quite impossible. So instead Peter and I went for more food (I’m stuffed like the Christmas turkey), we went to Franky and Benny’s and then went to see ‘World Trade Centre’. Ok so this probably isn’t the sort of film you want to go see on your birthday, but it’s a really good film nonetheless.
Nicholas Cage plays the lead character, a police sergeant who leads his team into the tower shortly after the first plane hit. They were going in to evacuate the building when whilst on the concourse, the whole tower collapses in on top of them. Anyway, they lie there for hours waiting to be rescued and pretty close to death at some points, meanwhile you flash back to what was happening in the outside world. There are a few definite references to Christianity within the film, which I personally think is a good thing. Afterall, I know there are various reasons for the catastrophes which we currently see in the world, but no one can deny the religious basis. Although if you ask me (and I know you haven’t) a religion that feels justified by killing thousands upon thousands of innocent people is a pretty sick one!! Anyway, back to the film. The filming of it is fantastic, but the only problem is because this is such short term history, it really brings it back to you. You remember where you were, you remember seeing those planes going into the buildings on the news… and as a result I was pretty tearful throughout. It’s a great film though, just bring handkerchiefs!
So then, today I am back at work, and I have just taken delivery of a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my beloved, a birthday gift! It’s a shame that he isn’t here today, he has gone off to start his new job. I would update you on what he is doing… but hopefully he is getting the internet on shortly and will be able to update you himself… I don’t want to steal his thunder… but it’s all very very exciting!
So I have had a fab birthday, with some great gifts and spent it with the people who mean the most to me! :o)
