Lady Louise's A-List Life

 Wednesday 12th July

God, the week was passing us by so quickly. Our first ever holiday together was flying by, it was Wednesday already, but we were having such fun.

Up early again… although getting a little more used to the fact now, we headed once again for fistral beach. Beachmats at the ready. It was blazing hot again, and Peter was determined to work on that tan… although I was more concerned with hiding my poor sunburned legs :o( I’ve never had sunburn on my legs before, it is painful. Anyway, we decided to go for a paddle… in the freezing cold waters of the Atlantic… why when the whether is so so hot is the sea so so cold? After much numbing of the feet and ankles, we decided there was no way we were going to get into the see for a frolick without wetsuits to keep us warm. We headed back to our spot on the beach, adamant that the next day we would hire out the wetsuits and go for a frolick… oh joy. Laying on my front to protect my burnt legs, I burnt my back :o( Ah well, at least I was a matching shade of crimson all over. Enough was enough and off we were again, to the shops, again! On the way though, Peter managed to spot a sale of wetsuits from a local surf school, I squeezed my sunburnt body into the moist rubber of the wetsuit, happy to get out of it, we made our bargain purchases and smitten, head to put them in the car… but good old Sweetp managed to forget his beachmat and had to make the journey all the way back to the beach to collect it… I was clever though and secured my place in the car to wait for him and transfer all my items from one handbag into the more convenient smaller surf pouch I had just purchased from the surf shop on Fistral beach!

We made a less hearty attempt at hitting the shops this time… yet again my head hurt, I’m sure that the sun doesn’t agree with me! We visited tattoo parlours with interest, before setting off on our mission to Great western hotel for our cream teas… it was hot, and we were making regular stops along the way, but we weren’t pleased when we got there and they told us that we were too late for cream tea.

Oh cruel world… with the light not holding up the way it had the previous night, we grabbed some dinner at the local weatherspoons, before heading back to the caravan to get ready to go out.

Tired, sandy and sunburned (well Peter wasn’t sunburned only me) we forced ourselves to get ready and head to the campsite club… and the campsite club was exactly what it sounds like, cheesy! They were hosting a karaoke contest, the winner got a free holiday… as doyennes of the karaoke, we thought we were at least in with a chance, that is until we got the karaoke books… No space oddity… no heart of glass, not even a kids in America!!! I ended up doing Manic Monday, and Peter, after rudely having Bye bye miss American Pie rudely robbed from him by a woman who was tone deaf and killed the song, was lumbered with unchained melody… oh the injustice of it all. Needless to say we didn’t win. We didn’t mind though, it was a night out and after smuggling all of our own alchol in (because it was much cheaper than the bar) we went home jolly and tipsy… ok then drunk, to fall into bed, ready to face another day!

 Tuesday 11th July

Tuesday 11th July

God, I’m so not used to early mornings… or mornings at all, Peter is the early riser, and so I was up and around at 11am… far too early lol. Happily though as I went into the living area of the caravan, the warm sun was beating through the windows, yey, it hadn’t forsaken us on holiday … we were going to have sun, sea, sand and surf!

After getting over the initial shock of being up before noon whilst on holiday, I donned my bikini top and shorts, and we headed for the beach. We ended up on fistral beach.

(for those of you who don’t know Cornwall, or Newquay, it has a whole load of beaches, all of wonderful cleanliness and beauty, but with different types for different things. Fistral is the waters of the Atlantic ocean and is pretty wild. It’s mainly used for surfing contests and is where the more experienced surfers go because it’s rip currents make a little more dangerous for the novice.)

Anyway, after wandering around some of the shops on fistral, and buying another glass ring and a beach mat, and after Peter buying a lovely silver bracelet, we went and found a nice spot on the beach, just to catch the midday sun… mad dogs and Englishmen! It was so hot, the beach was so busy and waves were making the glorious crashing sound that waves generally do. I find it really hard to stay on the beach without getting bored though, so after an hour and half, we went shopping yey. We went to all the shops we had gone to yesterday, and more, and bought lots of stuff that I really shouldn’t. I managed to get myself a beautiful black kaftan from a hippy shop (almost every shop in Newquay is hippy) Peter bought some beads for the kiddy winks, and this really fab ankle bracelet for me, it’s so cool, it has bells all over it and so every time I walk I jingle… I joked that he bought it so he could keep track of me in the shops lol ;o) Wonder of wonders, I found a shop stocking lots of Dior bling, that was my mum’s holiday present sorted, a Dior necklace and Chanel earrings… I knew she would like that because she has had her eye on my Dior necklace… which I might add I bought a lovely bracelet to go with :o) After looking in all the galleries and Peter eyeing up the works and realising he could be making a lot of money from his wonderful talent, we headed for another chippy… I think I had spent too long out in the sun, my head hurt!

Having eaten, and meandered, we headed back for the car, it was about 6pm… no we weren’t heading back to the caravan, it was photography time. The scenery was spectacular, cliffs, waves, low strong sun, the lot, and so we set off through fistral beach to catch pictures of the waves crashing on the rocks, along the coast path which took us past some amazing sea front cottages, how lucky are some people, they open their curtains every morning to sea nothing but unspoilt sea?! Carrying on pass Huers house, and down to the harbour, we must have spent a full three and half hours taking pictures, I only got through a film and a bit, but Peter reeled off loads, he is working towards his portfolio.

Finally tired, sunburned and aching, we stumbled back to the car to head back to the caravan… On the way, the sun was going down and we decided to stay and watch it, our first sunset together it was late when we got in so we decided to watch ‘my cousin Vinny’ in bed (I had brought my portable DVD player… I’m so prepared)… unfortunately though, I fell asleep half way through, huddled into sweetpea’s side, what a busy day?!

Monday 10th July... Holiday time :o)

Right, this is the blog you have been waiting for, the holiday one. It could be a long one, so get prepared, have you got a cup of tea? Are you sitting comfortably? Right then, I’ll begin :o)

Monday 10th July

Groan, I had to get up really early in the morning :o( to be ready for Peter to come and pick me up, luckily I had packed my bags the night before (1 suitcase of just clothes, 1 with clothes and shoes, 1 large bag of necessities, camera kit, tripod, walking boots) see, travelling light! And so Peter arrived, with poor Prudence in the back of the car. I said my goodbyes to my mum, it was about 9am ish… then we set off to drop Pru at her doggy hotel (we had tried to bring her to the caravan with us, but when we phoned up, the camp wouldn’t let her come because we were meant to be getting some posh caravan). It didn’t seem too bad the pet hotel, it was clean and all the other dogs looked fine, set out nicely in the country where the dogs could go walkies… I felt for Peter though, he was heartbroken to be leaving her and after leaving the dogs hotel, he was really sad all the way to the motorway. A week without his hairy companion… I was hoping that I would be enough to take his mind off not having her around.

Finally around 10am, we hit the motorway to set off right to the south of England, Cornwall.

It’s one hell of a drive, thankfully we were only going to Northern Cornwall (Newquay) and not lands end which is as far as you can go. The time flew by getting there though, it didn’t take the expected 5 hours, even with our frequent tea stops (which we had brought a flask for, service station stuff is so expensive), before we knew it we were arriving in Newquay and looking for signs to take us to the Snooty Fox holiday resort… finally we arrived, the park was nice, the caravan was… cosy lol, but lovely and clean and it was so nice to know it was ours for the next 4 days! Unfortunately, the weather was less agreeable, I certainly hoped that those grey clouds would pass before the week was out :o(

Hurriedly we unpacked, made some much needed tea, and got in the car to head into the centre of Newquay. The countryside we drove through was such a welcome relief from the city skyscrapers and grey jungle we are used to. Around 15 minutes later we arrived in the centre, parked up and everything looked exactly as it did 2 years ago when I last visited Newquay. We went off to the shops first, to eye up what purchases we would be making later in the week, beads, bling, bags, and art… I love the seaside galleries (and I know Peter does too) they have lovely simple paintings of seaside scenes, as well as the more detailed (more difficult) ones too. Hungry, we settled at the chip shop for our first, well deserved pie and chips :o) A quick glance at the sea and we were heading back to the caravan, it was night time and we had spent much of the day travelling, weary but happy we fell into bed, looking forward to what tomorrow would bring.

2 parties and a slow dance

I’ll start way back at last weekend, that’s the weekend before we went away. Having not had any party invites for sometime, it’s only sods law that we get both party invites for the same night. One was for my managers housewarming, the other for a friend’s 40th…. So what does a girl do when she has 2 party invites on the same night? Go to both of course :o)

It was lovely weather already, and so I wore, for the first time, the vintage white dress which I bought at Camden market ages ago, with my white sandals, sweetp looking ‘fine’ in the rudegirl sense of the word in his lovely black suit (arguably my favourite outfit of his), I must say when we pulled up to the driveway of the house, the entire road was packed out with cars… I never realised he was so popular… and yes, we were overdressed… both of us, but we weren’t staying at the house party. Having made our appearance, chatted to some colleagues and commented on the beautiful house, off we went to pick mum up and go to the second of the evening’s parties.

It was in a local pub, and the place was already packed (although no one was dancing) when we got there. Surprisingly one of the first people I ran into was an old schoolfriend of mine, she’s a lovely girl, but we lost contact… unfortunately we are still out of contact after she forgot to give me her mobile number before leaving the party. For Peter, there was a lot of introductions to people we knew, most of them had been neighbours of ours and seen me growing up, so I think they were quite excited to be meeting my boyfriend. I think he liked most of them too.

Finally though, me and mum couldn’t contain ourselves any longer and got up to boogy, it was sweltering heat and felt like dancing in a sauna, but we carried on nonetheless :o) That is until mum decided to much round and ended up falling on top of one of our friends… ah well, she was amused… and as always when anyone falls over I was in stitches… luckily Peter was there to pick her up off the floor! It was a mad old party, and Peter and I had our first ever smoochy slow dance, all this time we have been together an only now we have a slow dance… it was lovely though, to James Blunt’s beautiful… is that our song now Mr M? I guess it is, it’s a bit more romantic than “we don’t have to take our… clothes off… to have a good time, oh no…” lol….

I saw your face, in a crowded place and I thought I should be with you :o)

Anyway, the party was mad, we did more dancing and had a better time than we have done in ages, fun fun fun!

Well folks, as you can see Peter and I are back from our happy holidays, the picture above is a view of Fistral beach with the surfers on it. Now I have to apologise, I’ve had such a full week, that it might well take me another week to update you all on our super fun holiday… but at least I have blog subject matter for the whole week. Be prepared.
