Right then, so I didn’t get to finish what I had done during my time off work last week did I? Monday… I was meant to be in the Lake District enjoying the views… soaking in the scenery… but with the foot disaster it never happened. So to cheer up the mumpy Mr M… I offered to drive us back to the Cotswolds. Bourton on the water and the slaughters again! We had a lovely day; it is just the right size of town/village for someone with a sore foot to hobble around! We visited the gift shops, the antique shops, the jewellery shops, the tea shops, and Peter agreed it was a little piece of heaven. It wasn’t as sunny as it had been the week before when I went with my mum, but the weather didn’t totally let us down and we still managed to sit out by the river and eat our chips before I put my aching feet into the cool waters of the river… I had brought flip flops and a towel with me this time… having learned from my last visit… it was then that the HUGE new handbag I had bought on Tuesday really showed it’s worth! Oooh, and my bargain of the day??? A merino glass ring (I think it’s merino) for £3.99 when the same ring was £10 in a shop over the road yey hey! ;o) I also bought a benaya tile, they are so cool. Mine looks like this… but smaller. As the day drew on, we went off to the slaughters again, where this time I actually got in the river with my flip flops on… and we saw a trout in the river, you wouldn’t believe how clear and beautiful the water is… the whole place is fantastic. I even managed to persuade Peter to put his sore foot in the cool water; even he admitted it felt a lot better. We visited a lovely art exhibition in the village hall in lower slaughter… so many creative people seem to live in that vicinity… although I guess it is easy to be creative when surrounded with such perfect subject matter! It’s the kind of place that would be ideal for artistic types like sweet pea… I’d just never get any work done because I’d be out in the river all day! We then went on to an ever smaller village… I can’t even remember the name of it, one of the locals suggested it for a pub… so tiny it was like one road long, with one pub (because there is no pub in lower slaughter)! A beautiful day… and a wonderful way to end my week off, the way I began it! Who knows, perhaps we will go back with cameras, it’s so picturesque it would be ashame not to!

One of my bosses went on a trip, and in the gift shop he saw this coaster, he said, it was so relevant to me he couldn’t leave it behind… how cool is this though?

Friday June 16, 2006
Right folks, well it seems to be taking me far longer to update my blog fully on the events of last week than I had anticipated! I can sum the next 4 days up with lunch, Leamington and a poorly foot because in short, after the excitement of the previous few days I tried to keep it as quiet (and cheap) as possible. Thursday, well, after the night before and being at a concert until 12AM I was greatful for a bit of a lie in… so I stayed in bed until almost lunchtime and then came into town to meet Peter for lunch before going home a bleaching my hair blonde… Peter doesn’t like it :o( I do though, but I will dye it red again as it’s too difficult to keep it this colour for me… not yet though or my hair will drop out I’ve dyed it that often in the past few months! Friday, what luxury. Not feeling to well, I stayed in bed until 3 in the afternoon and watched videos of sex and the city, that is my definition of sheer bliss, sheer sheer bliss and a luxury I never get because I am always at work. I don’t even know why I have a TV in my room half the time, I barely ever get to watch it, I barely ever get to do anything I am always rushing around, rushing to work, rushing to the gym, rushing to Peter’s… that’s why when I get a luxury like that I really appreciate it… unfortunately one thing was lacking! CHOCOLATE! Friday evening I went over to Peter’s for a while. Saturday daytime I went shopping in Leamington. I didn’t have much money, but I did purchase the most beautiful flask! I have been after one of those flasks for a while which look enamelled on the outside in a nice pastel colour with a nice design painted onto it and metal top, they are glass inside, do you know the ones I mean? Well anyway, I found a muhly bargainous one in Leamington and snapped it up, grasping my proud new find to the counter of walnut and weave, a day well spent… I had intended on buying it to take to the Lake district with me the following day (Peter and I were intending on going on Sunday to stay and come back Monday)… but unfortunately events took a turn for the worst and we ended up not getting there! Saturday Peter had been playing football and hurt his foot quite badly, so badly that it is still hurt! So he couldn’t drive or even walk properly… the Lake district was out of the question, it’s quite interesting to sit in casualty on a Saturday night and watch the mixed bag of people filing in, particularly on a match night like Saturday, some quite obvious drink related injuries. It didn’t matter that we weren’t getting to the Lakes though, I was still going to treat Peter to a day out on Monday because I had booked the time off work now… but what day out did I treat Peter too????? Well you will just have to wait and see now, because it is the weekend, what exciting plans have I for this weekend? Who knows, it was going to be viewing a bargain priced house that I was thinking of buying, but after finding out the excess of repairs which needed doing I have had second thoughts, so I’m afraid, you will find out on Monday… I hope you enjoyed my exciting week, I know I did ;o) ciao for now blog fans!

I was going to hold off with updating you on Wednesday’s shenanigans as I am so busy just now… but I’m afraid I can’t contain it any longer! You would resent me if I did! Bon Jovi articleYes you guessed it folks. Wednesday 7th June was mum’s birthday, and what was her present I hear you ask, well I bought her some bits and bobs like the Jackie annual from 1977, a top and other stuff, Peter bought her a ticket to see her favourite band at the Ricoh arena Coventry: Bon Jovi. I bought a ticket to go along with her! It was a blazing hot day; it was a stadium concert, so open air, and fantastic. 40,000 tickets were sold; imagine what 40,000 people in a football stadium?!? It’s a lot, many of them were sensible enough to bring hats… unlike me! Nonetheless I didn’t moan! I was just pleased to be there! 4pm we were let into the stadium, we trawled around the merchandise stalls, but they were damn expensive so we came away empty handed, happily I had brought my trusty camera though, yey. The place was filling up and as we filed through the turnstiles people wandered past with lovely ice cold pints of beer in plastic glasses! Having been to the arena numerous times (my gym is there) it was odd to see it like this, the pitch covered with some form of concrete, a huge stage in the middle with massive speakers, and swarms of people gathering like little ants. As we approached our seats, the attendant told us we couldn’t sit there as some of the equipment for lighting had been set up on the seats… so free of charge, they moved us along to much better seats with a much better view, bonus! :o) That seems to happen a lot lately to me, I’m not complaining mind! Anyway, we sat there in the sun, watching the crowds filter in and enjoying the atmosphere for a good while before Bon Jovi’s support act came on, Nickleback. I actually didn’t realise that I knew so many of their songs, they play really well live and I was really pleased, it was like getting a double whammy concert, I know that you always get a support act, but it isn’t usually anyone very good is it? But no, they were fab and having seen them live I might even be tempted to buy an album, really really good. What better way to spend a bright summers evening, than watching live music in a football stadium ;o) Anyway, at around 8pm, and much anticipated and welcomed by the huge crowd, Jon Bon Jovi came out on to the stage. The crowd went wild, as the music started for his first song, ‘you give love a bad name’ he really performed well, engaging with the crowd as he ran out over a bridge over the fans in the gold circle. The music filled the air and a big screen enlarged the group for those of us fans not close enough to see his face. Mum was going crazy, she said it was her best birthday she had ever had, she was singing and dancing and going crazy to her favourite group… and swooning over Jon Bon Jovi. As the night drew in and the sky darkened, the stage lights illuminated pink, blue, yellow and green looking like some wild light show, and the airplanes passing overhead, I’m sure would have been able to see the concert. The jovi’s went through all their best songs, giving their all as the crowd went wild, the screams and the songs lifting high into the air. They gave 2 and half hours of wondrous music, and the experience was fantastic, I took loads of photographs and both mum and I had so so so much fun. As Bon Jovi retreated from the stage, the stadium lights came up and the crowd began to filter out, happy. Elated even… and feeling so privileged to have another wonderful experience to add to the list… although my list is fairly short at the moment, but at 24 I have plenty of time to build it up!
