Lady Louise's A-List Life
Monday April 3, 2006
Well folks, for almost a week I have been inside resting after getting a nasty abcess on my back and being in real pain… but I spent my time wisely and read 2 books in that time. Son instead of my usual relaying of a hectic social life, I’m afraid that this week you get a review of 2 books, I do hope that you don’t mind?!
Nicole Richie, The truth about diamonds Well I am sure that you will find it of no surprise that I love following the lifestyles of folks like Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton… I think it’s great how some people can be famous for simply shopping, and think it is even better that an unkown from Essex can make so much money for simply looking like one of them, I love this crazy world we live in.
Anyway, the book. Well I won’t lie and pretend that Nicole is the next Agatha Christie, she writes as she speaks I suspect, but it doesn’t detract from what I thought was a really good story… it’s like having the inside scoop on the ‘in crowd’ and at some bits you really feel for Nicole. At first I think she was dwarfed by a taller, thinner and perhaps brassier Paris, but really she seems as though she is wise beyond her years…. Plus her constant references to her designer goods make it an even more interesting read… well if your me it does. I’d read it again, my boyfriend seemed highly amused that I was reading it, but I don’t care, it’s a good book!
Dan Brown, the Da Vinci Code Well what can I say? I read this book in 2 days flat, that is how good it is, I just couldn’t put it down. It really is fantastic, and quite enlightening, as a catholic it presented me with some interesting facts, I haven’t decided one way or another on those yet, but check out the dismembered hand in the Da Vinci painting of the last supper. I just can’t wait for the film to come out and if you haven’t read the book, I think you should!!!!
Anyway, hopefully I’ll soon be resuming normal service and you can read about my attempts at recreating the Paris/Nicole lifestyle in the centre of England rather than my book reviews

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.
The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.
"I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."
"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.
"Is that your son?" the nobleman asked.
"Yes," the farmer replied proudly.
"I'll make you a deal. Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of." And that he did. Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.
Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.
What saved his life this time? Penicillin.
The name of the nobleman? Lord Randolph Churchill. His son's name?
Sir Winston Churchill.
Someone once said: What goes around comes around.

know I tried this before, but no one signed up to the offers and so I never got my free ipod. This time I thought I would try for the smaller ipod shuffle which I only need 4 referrals for, (I think it was like 10 or something when it was the ipod mini) so here's the lowdown anyway. What happens is you sign up with your email address and home address on ipod genie... don't worry it says in their T&Cs that they don't spam you. You choose which ipod you want to try to get for free, they have the whole range depending on how many referrals you can get. Then you get other people to sign up, (4 in my case) you have to complete an offer, but one of those is like renting DVDs a free trial for a month, then you cancel before the month is up and never have to pay anything anyway :o) Once you have done that and your referrals have completed their offers then you sit and wait for them to post out your snazzy ipod... go on, give it a go! Even if you don't want one you can always sell it on ebay :o) Follow this link http://www.ipodgenie.co.uk/?r=1887
to sign up... I think you will need to cut and paste it into your browser to do it. Thanks folks

I’m not in very good health lately. Having vaguely gotten over a cold last week, I now have a really sore lump on the base of my back and a dry cough. I’m off to gym tonight… hoping I can exercise away my ailments. Anyway, I haven’t written to tell you about my ailments… I’m sure you can check out the NHS website if that’s what you want to read about… no, as usual I’m going to be talking about my favourite subject… me! Oh yes and my weekend lol. Friday night I just spent chilling out at home with my mum. I still had that damn cold, so I did some ironing and had a big clear out of my clothes. I’m keeping a big dustbin bag under the stairs into which all of my castaway clothes, shoes and whatever else I decide I have had enough of will go into… Then when the weather improves (if the weather ever improves) I’m going to sell it all at a car boot sale. I remember doing a car boot sale about 2 years ago when I had my other car… it was so tiny and we had so much stuff crammed in. It’s great fun though, but I’m hoping that if I do it I can raise enough money from my castoffs to buy a Smythson London A-Z and the £90 which it costs I feel is totally justified because I spend so much time in London (and about to be even more now I will be helping my friend with her wedding dress shopping). Plus it’s all leather bound and is collectable anyway. Oooh, I went off on one there didn’t I? Anyway, so I spent the rest of the night reading my new novel ‘the truth about diamond’ by Nicole Richie. Peter seems to think a book written by Nicole Richie is quite an amusing concept… and I have to say, she’s no Shakespeare, but the girl can tell a good story. I finished the book lastnight, and I really enjoyed it, but then I am the kind of girl who revels in getting a peak into the lives of the rich and famous! Saturday, I didn’t get out of bed until pretty late, and mum was unwell, so we only went to ASDA for some shopping! Then Saturday night I headed over to Peter’s, we were going out. We started off by walking to the local, we had a drink in there, then off to the gallery before going to Careys where we bumped into lots of work people. I was greatful they had seats because I had just walked into town in my silver Bertie stilettos, I am suddenly conscious of CO2 emissions and feel the need to try to use the cars/ taxis a little less… plus a walk never did anyone any harm…. Especially not when you can get a seat at the other end. We kept drinking and drinking ( not being particularly flush with the money, I swapped my usual tipple of champagne for the less purse wrenching brandy and lemonade). We were having a great time, dancing and talking with the people from work before heading back to his in the early hours of the morning, just about fit to topple into bed. Were we ever sorry Sunday morning… oh yes, I spent the duration of yesterday with the worlds worst hangover. Ah well, I don’t do it very often, and we did have a fun night out. | | | |

Friday March 24, 2006
Well folks, it’s almost the weekend, and even better than that it’s almost lunchtime! Unfortunately I have already eaten my fruit and sushi while sitting at my desk bored, so I will save my miso soup for later and might also have a bag of crisps.
So what have I been up to this week I hear you ask? Well not much really, I can’t even remember what I did on Monday… what did I do on Monday? God that is annoying, Tuesday was my induction at the new gym at the ricoh arena, and what a lovely gym it is too… I can’t wait to get back there… who knows, give it a year and I may be as slim as Paris Hilton (I doubt it though). Tuesday night was my first night spent in the new house with lovely Mr. M, it is a lovely house and we had a lovely time. By Wednesday morning I had come down with a cold though, and yesterday I felt so poorly that I couldn’t come to work… I still feel bad today, but I can’t be arsed to keep sitting at home. But lastnight I popped to borders and bought the new Nicole Richie book, ‘the truth about diamonds’ I like the way it is written and have already covered quite a bit of it. I did want the Paris Hilton ‘confessions of an heriess’ but it seems to be totally sold out everywhere, so I thought I would grab the Nicole Richie one before it is too… wish I was famous and loaded like them… although I did work out my finances for the first time in my life the other day and I should never be in my overdraft… I spend too much damn it.
I’m bored… am I boring you? I’ll shut up now, but I might be back later to write some more!
