Lady Louise's A-List Life

There are a few occasions I am sure you will agree, that bring everyone together! Throws all the people that don’t usually mix into one big melting pot and make a reunion of the masses; Birthdays, weddings, funerals, christenings etc. Unfortunately yesterday I attended the more solemn of the selection, a funeral.
The man that died, he was a lovely old man and there is a long story I think as to how I know him, perhaps I should regale you with that first before I tell you how the funeral went. In my younger days, before I was qualified, I used to work weekends in a local club, behind the bar. I worked with a girl in there, Claire, and we became friends and because her family also frequented the club I got to know them too. One day I met her cousin (I was 17) and we dated for a while. So I got to know more of the family. The man who died was her grandfather!
This is the first time I had been to a proper funeral; I have been to a cremation of my aunty last year, but never a proper interment. It was a lovely service and he was such a popular man that the church was full. I learned a lot about him when I was in there that I had never known, he had been in the RAF, he carved wood, and he could do loads of stuff. It made me think about life a bit really, as I think funerals and deaths often do. His life was full, he left behind a lot of people that love him, and everyone had a good word for him. I hope my life will be as full and that my funeral (which I hope will be many many many years away) will be as busy!!!
When we went back to the club after the funeral, I got to see a lot of people I hadn’t seen for a long time. People I had known when I worked in the club, and also family members I hadn’t seen for some time, it was great to tell them all how my life has changed, how my studying has been over for some time and now I work in a pretty good job and have a lovely boyfriend. They all seemed really pleased for me. It was also odd to see how others lives have changed, friends I haven’t seen for some time now settled with boyfriends and some with children! Such a short time can change people to such a large extent. Anyway, the moral of this story is although we all hate to think about dying, sometimes it’s good to think, what will be said at your funeral and remember, no one has “worked a lot of overtime” written on their headstone!!! It’s like that advert for Lastminute if I had one more minute what would I do? Fill it that’s what you would do! Do something you love and make sure you are remembered for all the right reasons!!!!

Fed up paying ridiculous petrol prices? Save money with a free Pipeline Card! All those involved in the oil business are getting their cut from the inflated prices we're paying on the forecourts - the oil-well owners, refineries, filling stations. On top of that, the government siphons off nearly 70p per litre in tax. These organisations behave as if petrol and diesel were luxury goods, and driving was a hobby. It is not. We are not 'motorists' as we have been branded. We are teachers, nurses, professional and business people, parents. We drive because we have to. Strength in numbers There are nearly 32 million of us in the UK. If a large number of us band together and choose to give our custom to one major forecourt chain, we could negotiate a substantial discount for ourselves. Pipeline Card has been established to achieve just that and we are well on our way to success. Our target We have already secured an agreement in principle from a major UK fuel retailer to provide a discount to our members. We need you – and your friends and your work colleagues - to join with us in order to win a substantial reduction in forecourt prices across the whole country. Act now! It costs absolutely nothing to join, but by joining Pipeline Card today you strengthen our clout as well as making yourself eligible to buy fuel at a discount. By telling other drivers about this website you can make that happen sooner - and do them a favour into the bargain. you need to go to www.pipelinecard.org to sign up

Yes indeed… things are definitely back to normal…. And not before time either! Friday after work I took mum shopping and bought myself a new handbag. I have been after a bag like it for ages, they are the ones with the long strap so you can put them across your body and they are square sort of shape and deep! I’ve had such trouble trying to find one that the only I could find which I liked was a Gucci one, so I was going to get that, but I found one in Next and settled on that instead… it’s really nice in tan brown leather with a big chrome circle on the front. So happy with my purchase I went home and then Peter came up and we all went to the crown for a bit of a boogie to the disco. I was putting new hairdo ideas to Peter, I don’t think he’s as keen as me on some of them though! After the pub we went home and watched a video! Saturday I got up early (well 10.30 is early for me on a weekend) to drive to Cheltenham with mum and Peter! I didn’t know what to expect there as I thought it would be a nice scenic Cotswold town… it wasn’t though, it’s more of a shopping place. Under normal circumstances that wouldn’t be a bad thing, but when you are trying desperately to save your money and you haven’t won the £1m rollover on the lotto the night before, then it isn’t the place to be! It was still a nice day out though, mum and Peter both bought quite a bit, all I treated myself to was a fat lip lip balm, it’s wicked stuff. The first time I ever used it I was on holiday in Newquay which is like the surf capital of the UK (in fact I wouldn’t mind a trip back there to try surfing), and it’s all oils and stuff and only £3.50 a tin, what a bargain! So anyway, by the time we had driven back from Cheltenham we didn’t bother going out again as I was just too tired! Sunday I went out shopping in Coventry and was really pleased because Peter and I are joining the gym at the Ricoh arena this week and not being a very sporty person I begrudge paying out a lot on expensive gym wear (although I do crave a juicy couture track suit) I was really pleased last week to get my pink trainers for £20, so imagine my joy when I stumbled upon a whole load of NIKE bargains in JJB… I snapped them up, lovely white jogging pants and the like, so I will look pretty snazzy when I join the new gym… even if I am bright red and panting like a dog! I was also really pleased to find a lovely pair of skinny leg jeans which were good and long... it's tough finding trousers to fit when you are a 6ft girl. Anyway the jeans are really cool, a topshop must buy I think. After rushing home and getting everything done that I needed to then I went out with Peter again, off to the karoke (which we didn’t know was on) at the coach and horses pub. For a change I sang big spender which was bundles of fun, I think I would do that again lol! Peter performed a great rendition of space oddity and in the ghetto… aw he’s so talented my sweetpea! And the answer is yes…. After my hectic weekend I was late into work this morning… damn it! Must start setting my alarm clock earlier!

I feel things are starting to get a little normal again now chaps! Wednesday I was at the hospital for most of the morning with my darling sweetpea. An earlier health scare had meant he had to return for some nasty hospital tests, the medication meant I was designated driver! Both of us were so relieved when he came out of the hospital with the wonderful news that the doctors could find nothing wrong with him, they said his earlier illnesses were stress related, which, considering this past year is understandable! We celebrated by heading off for a lovely lunch before I dropped him off and headed off to run some errands! I think the most strenuous errand of the day was parting with Timmy… the dog I had only got 2 weeks before! While I was in London, his boisterous antics put my mum in hospital by bruising her ribs… so much so that she now found herself unable to look after him as she was afraid and as I am out at work all day it just wasn’t fair! I hated to part with him, but it had to be done as it wasn’t fair on him or her while he was in the house! She has decided she doesn’t want another dog in the house because she can’t manage the work, so I have to wait for Peter to get in his nice house now before I can get a new dog friend! Timmy would still have been too boisterous to live with his dog, Pru, or else I would have kept him. Such a shame as he is such a beautiful dog, I am sure he will have no problem getting a new home! It’s a shame we weren’t warned just quite how much work he was before he was given to us though! I finished off a very busy and tiring day by watching films with Peter! Yesterday, when I finally dragged myself out of bed, Peter and I, with the day off work, headed off to one of our favourite places, Stratford. We had a lovely day, wandering around the shops. I bought some gorgeous pink leather flat shoes from Jones the Bootmaker, they are for general daytime use because I have loads of going out shoes, and a fair few work shoes, but not enough general flat daytime shoes… and these are gorgeous and such a bargain! I also bought some pink satin slippers! We had lunch an the Garrick inn which is one of the oldest pubs in Stratford, I think Peter particularly liked it because he thought Shakespeare was in there at some point… which he probably was! After food we carried on shopping, getting some new things for the house including my much anticipated cappuccino maker yey! Then it was time for afternoon tea, and home! What a wonderful day it was! So now I have got back into the shopping vibe, and things are going well again I’m feeling all happy again! What a good feeling!
