Lady Louise's A-List Life

 Bedford for the weekend

Saturday morning, after the excitement of the night before, I woke up remembering that I hadn’t packed my bags or had a bath ready to head off to my friends Sharika’s birthday shenanigans! So I dragged myself out of my nice warm bed at about 11.00 am, which bearing in mind sweetpea was meant to be collecting me at 1, I didn’t really leave myself with an abundance of time! By the time I had waited for the water to heat up for my bath and sipped a peppermint tea, time was really going. He had been already to see the plastic surgeon, who, thank God, had decided he doesn’t need anything doing, that the piece which is missing from the inside of his mouth will grow back itself! Anyway, I had my bath, and had just about dried my hair when there was a knock at the door, I was so pleased to see him, especially after lastnight, and we determined we were to have a good time over the weekend! While he was waiting I packed my Louis Vuitton weekend bag, and my Louis Vuitton handbag, and they all laughed when I came downstairs with 3 bags for one night away! A girl needs her things though! We dropped mum off in town and headed for Bedford! I’d never been to Bedford before, it’s an odd sort of town, the outskirts are hugely Chav like I think, but where we were stopping, on the embankment, was really nice and not unlike Stratford, the town centre was a bit more Nuneaton like, it was a town of opposites I think! We had a bit of a time checking into our hotel! We were staying in the embankment, from the outside it was all wattle and dorb, lovely tudor looking establishment, but when we went to check in, they mischarged 3 times, trying to overcharge us time and again! Finally we managed to get checked in and with the right amount too! Our room was ok though, Sweetpea just kept describing it to all as ‘quaint’ but it had a nice clean comfortable bed, was warm and had all working amenities! Believe me, I have come across a lot worse! So we settled in, and got warm, before heading round the corner to the town centre for some food! There were a fair few pubs we could have eaten in, but we decided on a place called ‘The Lounge’. It was nice and there were quite a few people in there, we managed to get a comfy table and some nice food, much too much for us to finish, before heading back to the hotel and getting ready to go out! I wore my black silk dress, which considering that temperatures were heading for freezing probably wasn’t the best choice, but I like to look glam. Peter wore his lovely suit… he always looks good in it, especially with his red shirt which I had suggested he get to go with it! Grrrr! Out at Sharika and Gav’s flat, the party had already started! There were around 20 people squeezed in, and when someone jumped out of the front room and said oh my god haven’t you changed since I last saw you, I just looked puzzled. Truth was that Deborah had changed too, she was 16 when I last saw her about 4 years ago, now she was all grown up and looked lovely! Sharika’s sister I hadn’t seen for ages either, she had grown so tall, she was hugely taller than me and I am 6ft, but she looked great too! We headed into town! We started off at Bar Soviet, which was a nice sort of place to start, before heading up to the nightclub, Oxygen! We were on the guestlist so didn’t need to pay, which is always a bonus. We started off in there with glasses of champagne! I never complain about those! Then we danced the night away! Sharika was drunk after about half an hour in the nightclub, but I can’t really comment on that being as I was drunk soon after! We really had a great night though, it’s so good to go out somewhere different to the usual, and Peter gets on so well with Gav that I can just go off and dance and leave the blokes talking! We left a little early, we were both tired after the long day and the night before… but we had had a thoroughly good night! We didn’t sleep too well, but luckily Peter nipped down for breakfast in the morning and I got the bed all to myself for 40 minutes of uninterrupted sleep yey! Sunday we checked out, headed for a walk by the beautiful river and regretted not bringing out cameras, although we agreed we were both too tired to use them! It was cold, and there was a boat race going on… how cool, you would never see that in Coventry! Then we wandered into town where I bought the coolest green hat. It’s velvet and baker boy style, I had to have it though as my head was hurting from the night before and the cold didn’t help! Finally we headed home, but not before stopping off at Franky and Bennies for some food… unfortunately what with the hangover and the drive back, my food didn’t stay down! But I didn’t care, I’d had a lovely weekend! How good it felt to be back in my own bed though lastnight, I slept so well!

 Friday night... Jazz and hospital

What a weekend! Friday was a fairly tumultuous evening, I had taken mum shopping after work and we were nagging at eachother most of the night and not exactly seeing eye to eye! So we decided to go to Belgrade theatre for the live jazz night. We hadn’t been to one of these in ages, probably about a year, and so it was a nice change. Thankfully I think the music lifted the spirits of both of us! Then, it was about 11.00pm when I looked down and realised I had a missed call on my mobile, it was Peter, I didn’t think anything of it as he phones me loads anyway! So I nipped outside to listen to the voicemail he had left for me… he was heading to accident and emergency at Walsgrave hospital, there had been some accident. He didn’t say what it was on the message, but he sounded as if he was having trouble speaking… my heart was in my mouth when I called him back! His dog, Prudence, a rather boisterous Airedale, had been so excited to see him when he had got home from his mums that night that she was jumping around all over the place. He bent down, just as she jumped up and she hit him in the mouth with her head, he had put his front tooth through his top lip! We kept in touch for a couple of hours, then he called me back and told me he might have to have stitches in his lip, he would be at the hospital for a couple of hours! I hung around at the jazz night for about another hour, twitching and texting the whole time, then me and mum went up to the hospital to catch up with him! I’m not squeamish, the sight of blood is not something that at all bothers me, but when I went into the hospital and he showed me the flap on the inside of the top of his lip hanging down, I thought I was going to be sick! Bless him, he had been there hours and because of his mouth he hadn’t even had a drink… I bought him some water and he managed to pour a little in while he was trying not to lose the flap of his mouth! I hate hospitals, they are so slow and it was freezing, mum was shivering as she already has a cold, and poor poor sweetheart at the mercy of the NHS! I felt so sorry for him, he was visibly in pain and worried about the next day when we were meant to be driving down to Bedford. I tried to comfort him as best I could, but making him laugh didn’t help, it only caused him pain! Eventually he was called into the doctor. While he was in there, mum and I got talking to a couple of lads, one from Scotland who had been pushed on a bottle and had a hole in his arm, we also saw a childhood friend of mine, she was in there with her boyfriend who had had his nose broken when coming out of work! There was a man in there with what looked like a split open forehead… it wasn’t nice, then the police and ambulances were in and out! I just wanted Peter to be well so we could all leave. When he did come out, he had some antibiotics and had been told to go back in the morning and see the plastic surgeon. My heart was in my mouth again, poor sweetpea! We left and he had tears in his eyes, it was about 2.00am, freezing cold and I think he was in shock! I told him that if we couldn’t go on Saturday then it would be ok, I would understand, but he was adamant he wanted to go! I gave him a hug, mum gave him a hug, then I got one of my holy medals out of my car and gave it to him to keep him safe on the journey home… off he went home… my poor poor sweetpea!

 e-commerce, French and Dom Perignon

Well blog fans, thank fully this week seems to have so far panned out slightly better than the weekend! After the weekends shenanigans I was feeling totally under the weather and it has taken me almost a week of eating like a pig and taking tablets to shift the flu/cold/bug whatever you want to call it! So Tuesday back at work I had a lot to catch up on, and I’m still busy but always like to make time to tell you what is going on in my life… even if it isn’t that exciting! Peter and I have discovered a £250 allowance through work for courses, now as a perennial learner, this is almost akin to telling me I have won the lottery. What with my curtain making course coming to an end (well it will if I ever get that last assignment done) there is a space to be filled by some new learning objective. It has been in the past that I have suggested the possibility of one day starting my own business… and Mr. M seems to have adopted that idea wholeheartedly and so we thought that perhaps it might be useful to go on a business start up course or something with the money. Well I have to say I quite fancy going on a short course at Coventry University on e-commerce! You see I have my fingers in a few pies, I’m a photographer, a curtain maker, and an avid follower of fashion a’ la Vogue and Vanity Fair… so my theory is that there is just a website waiting to happen there! I mean I could start selling my photographs as prints over the internet, or I could sell handbags and shoes over the internet? I think the curtains might be a little more difficult, although not entirely impossible I suspect! However I do think I need guidance on the possibilities of the internet, and also need to clear myself of the vast amount of debt I have accumulated over the years, but at only 24, who knows I could be looking at starting my little entrepreneurial adventure by 26… it’s still young! Then who knows, the world is my oyster… perhaps… unless I go bust and end up with less money than I have now! Anyway I am going to look at investing in a home computer in the New Year and start planning… I think I might start with a website selling photographic prints! It’s something I know I can do quite easily, and also with the possibility of 2 exhibitions coming up next year, that could act as a great launch pad for the site… I wonder what I could call it though? Anyway, as well as the possibility of doing the e-commerce course I also found an intensive French course… In Paris! Now how cool would that be? Would look great on my CV too! Might have to have a think about that I reckon as it wasn’t too expensive! Right so back to my week rather than my dreams. I went out lastnight to the Lounge, a small bar at the back of Coventry city centre. I haven’t been there since last Christmas when I went for a meal with my friends Heather, Debbie, Kathy, Sally and Jeanette! It’s a lovely place but it’s just so easy to forget because it isn’t on the main drag with all the other bars in Coventry. Anyway, Peter hadn’t been before, and there was a band on too, so the whole ambience was great… he really enjoyed it! What I really enjoyed was discovering that they serve Champange by the glass… most bars only serve it by the bottle, and when you are the designated driver you can hardly have a bottle, in fact I don’t think I could ever have a whole bottle of champagne to myself, I’d fall over! But the glass of rose champagne tasted just lovely! I have asked my friend to bring me back a bottle of Veuve Clicquot back when he goes over to France next month, it’s so much cheaper on the continent, but I’ll be looking forward to that, I was tempted to get him to bring me back some Dom Perignon, but it’s still £50 a bottle over there… which is fantastic in comparison to our £100 a bottle, but nonetheless, it’s only for little old me to sip with my Christmas dinner, and mum and Peter if they fancy a glass, we’ll do nicely with Veuve I think! So that’s been my week so far, not overly exciting, but nice! I like nice quiet weeks, I am starting to feel a little rested again! Which is good as I suspect I have a wild weekend ahead of me… hope it doesn’t snow!

 Blackpool

I went to Blackpool on Saturday, But the fun and the sun had gone away!
The shops were shut, the pier too People left with not much to do.
Except to gamble or to drink In weather so cold it’s hard to think!
No sun no rain, only cold cold sea, Nothing to do for my mum and me.
Others survived, with little on, But for me, the fun had long gone.
Suddenly this once vibrant sea town, Left me with nothing more than a frown.
In June or July, it’s fun and good stuff In cold November, it’s nothing but rough!

Hello bloggers, well I thought I would write you a little poem about my weekend in Blackpool Blackpool is a seaside town located in the North West of England. In the summer it can be fantastic, it’s full of English seaside tack, and is famous for it’s tower… and the big one rollercoaster! Anyway, mum and I took it in our heads to spend a weekend in Blackpool with the hope of seeing the seaside and having a bit of fun before the winter cold got too biting! So Saturday morning we got up early and embarked on the long drive to Blackpool, that’s quite exciting for me actually as I only passed my driving test in February so I like to drive as many new places as I can for experience. When we got there, it was freezing, but there were some lovely sunsets just happening as it was about 3pm when we arrived, so I took the liberty of photographing them! However as night fell we headed off to check into the Woodley Hotel this is a nice little guest house just off the promenade, and I have to say it was lovely, was so clean and friendly, I’m really glad we stayed there. Anyway, off we went out again, but to our horror, much was closed, there were no lights on (blackpool is usually famed for it’s lights) and only the arcades and pubs remained open, so we went around the arcades before getting into the car to drive to the other end of the promenade to see what bars were open up there! Well that was a useless exercise, there was nothing up that end, so we drove back and I had the pleasure of trying to squeeze my car back into the tiniest parking space in the North in the dark, in the cold, it took me forever while my poor mum, stood outside because the space was too narrow for us both to get out of the car while it was in the space. So off we toddled again, this time to a karaoke bar we had passed earlier in the night. I was reluctant to go to a karaoke bar because I have really been suffering this past week with a really sore throat and a cough, so I knew I couldn’t sing, and for me going to a karaoke and not singing is the worst thing possible. So I sat in there, with a brandy and Lemonade, wrapped up in jumpers and boots, looking about as glamourous as an Eskimo, while lots of scantily clad hen night parties and other girls out for a weekend passed me by! I have to say, I was glad when at 11.30 mum decided we would go back to the hotel! It was the intention that the next day I would take some black and white photographs for my exhibition, but my god it was so so cold, and mum had woken up feeling particularly ill, it wasn’t the food, we had had a lovely meal in Harry Ramsdens the night before, so it definitely wasn’t that, it was the cold. Both of us decided we couldn’t hack anymore, and god how depressing this place was out of season, only added to by the fact that there were a fair few homeless people lying on the streets in the blistering cold too. I had to buy one poor woman a hot dog as I couldn’t just pass her by like all the others were doing… if I had enough money I would have bought her a hotel room for the night! So anyway, it’s Sunday morning, mum is ill, I’m ill and we’re both bloody cold! We had tea, and more tea and then decided the best thing to do was to get in the car and drive home! So that is exactly what we did. I had to stop so many times on the way home because I was so tired from the cold, but when I finally made it I was so glad to see my own bed and my own house! We did learn a valuable lesson though this weekend. Mum and I have in the past considered moving to a seaside town. Now we definitely wouldn’t, in season it is great, but out of season it has to be one of the most depressing experiences I have ever encountered! So next time I go to Blackpool, I’ll make sure it is in the summer! I now have to try to get over this cold before the weekend when I have a mad one in Bedford planned!

Photographs, curtains and a head cold

Hello blog fans. I suppose by my usual blogging update standards this has been a quiet week hasn’t it? I think I updated on Tuesday, but haven’t since then! I’ve just been so busy with work and have caught a stinking cold as well. I feel as though my head is in a fish bowl, and judging from the fact that 4 of my colleagues have phoned in sick, I can’t believe that I am sat at my desk now! But I am desperately trying to make a good impression as I know that I am not exactly in my boss’ good books at the moment!! I think I am becoming a little disenchanted with the organisation I work for to be honest, I’ve worked here for 2 and half years and I think it would be nice to move on now! Not madly looking for jobs though, I will just keep my eyes peeled for anything good coming up! Right so, the week hasn’t really held anything that exciting I have to say, between shopping until midnight in debenhams, nursing a cold and trying desperately to get my curtain making final assignment finished, and also trying to get a quote out for some handmade curtains, I haven’t really had time to do much else. Although, I did manage eventually to get in touch with the guy from the Tin Angel who curates the art exhibitions. He called me back, and asked if I would send him around 5 samples of my work, so I have asked my friend to scan them so that I can email them on to him! I’m not really holding out much confidence as to whether I will get it or not as … well I don’t know, I just don’t think my work will be what they are looking for, but if Paul is going to scan them and send them to me anyway, then I will try to load one or two on to my blog for you guys to look at anyway! What a treat lol! Anyway, so my weekend, I’m driving up to Blackpool, which should be fun considering I feel so bad, but I am going up there for the weekend with my mum, so hopefully there will be lots of photo opportunities for me to build up my exhibition work! I aim to do it all in black and white though, I think I have enough colour! Anyway, have a good weekend bloggers!
