Quotes, Curtains and making an exhibition of myself

I feel so tired today. Lastnight I went out to do my first ever quote on a pair of curtains. Someone at work had asked me to go out and do it for them, but I hadn’t quite realised how far they lived, it was almost Daventry… Not Dunchurch as I had thought. No mind though, I got there in the end, and took all the measurements which I needed. Then when I got back though I had to work on my assignment. Was up until 12 am sewing a cut away goblet headed valance. I feel as though I am never going to finish this course now, it is the last assignment, so I really have to get it done! Then I’ll have yet another certicificate, mum thinks I just enjoy collecting certificates… perhaps I do! Today I phoned the guy from the Tin Angel again to see if I can get an exhibition in there, that’s twice now I have left a voicemail and he hasn’t answered. I also went to get my photographs developed from Ryton Pools: Where I was taking black and white shots on Sunday! I’m really pleased with the outcome of some of them, it’s ashame that some of the swan ones didn’t quite turn out as expected, but nonetheless I do have some which could be used in exhibition… which really when I think about it, I take so many photographs that I could only use some of all of them in an exhibition couldn’t I? I’d really like for me and Peter to do a joint exhibition one year… although I feel the need to do my first one on my own! Tonight I am off to my aromatherapy course… and then I suspect I will have another late night working on my assignment, as well as doing the quote! I suppose I would moan were I not busy… I do love being busy really, I can’t not be busy, when I’m not, I read! Ah well, back to work!

 3 nights out! 1 Weekend!

Well folks, what a hectic weekend I have had! A good weekend but nonetheless a hectic one. Friday night after work, I rushed home to jump in a bath and grab something quick to eat to go out into town with my mum. I had thought that this was going to be a mild night, just me and her taking in a few bars, me driving so no drinks! However, it turned out to be a bit of a mad one! We started off in the Tudor Rose, it’s a bit of an old fashioned pub with a mixed crowd, but the drinks are cheap and the music tends to be good! So we were in there and I ran into my cousin Lee, who I haven’t seen in months. We didn’t really chat at the time as he was out with his friends Gaz and Scott! So after leaving there, mum and I headed up to the jag and as soon as I walked in a young girl (about 20) ran up to me, it took me a while to realise who she was as she had lost so much weight and then I remembered her face, she’s the cousin of my cousin…. I don’t think that makes her family does it? I don’t know, but she’s fun anyway, Gemma, so we were over with her and her friend when she gave us some free tickets to go to the nightclub, Ko Poda I hadn’t at all intended to go to a nightclub, it was meant to just be a night in Dogma and Inspire, but mum was desperate to go, so we went! We did have a good night though, we were dancing like mad, which considering I had my green stiletto heels on, was not that good an idea! Towards the end of the night, I caught up with Lee again, and was telling him all about my boyfriend, not having any brothers or sisters, I tend to look on my cousins as such so it was good to tell him all! I was still single last time I was speaking to him! We ran into yet more cousins before the night was out, then finally went home, tired, aching and danced to death! Saturday daytime I had promised to take my mum shopping in Leamington. She needed a new dress to go out in at Christmas and I would have liked to get a skirt to wear with my corset top that night to go out with Peter! It was a lovely day in Leamington, and mum bought a really nice little black number, but all I came home with was a full belly and a new suit for work… nothing to wear out! However, in keeping with the rest of the weekend we did run into more relatives, my mum’s cousin and her aunty. So she invited her cousin to join us when we all go out on the 10th to Leamington. Saturday night I think was probably the best night of the weekend. Mr M came to pick me up at about 8ish, and we went off to Nuneaton to catch up with my friend Natasha and her friend Becky! We decided beforehand that we would only do the bars and not the clubs, I’m glad we stuck to it, I don’t think I could have managed the nightclub again! Mr M wasn’t in good sorts at the beginning of the night, but I’m pleased to say my charm and wit (and a very low cut top) managed to cheer him up as the night went on. I boogied for ages with the girls and drank a whole bottle of wine! I’m not even a very good drinker, but we had a great night! I think I can safely say that gorgeous Mr M enjoyed it too! Sunday I woke up with a bad head, from all the wine, but after a trip to the shops, and an hour out with Mr M taking photographs at Ryton Pools, and a bath, I was fit to face another night out! This time we were taking my mum to see a T-Rex tribute band, Too Rex at the nags in Nuneaton. Wow, Peter and I have seen 2 bands there now, and they have both been fab, so we can’t wait to go back again to see the Guns N Roses tribute. Anyway, Too Rex, they were fab, they did all the great T-Rex songs and musically they were tremendous, I’m thinking of getting Mr M a T-Rex guitar book so that when he has learned he can play the songs… might check out amazon and see! Again I was up dancing loads in big high boots, my poor poor feet. We had another great night, but I was so glad to get to bed. I can honestly say that the week will be a rest after the weekend I have had, but what the hell it was great!

 Snuff

Snuff is a wonderful thing. I’m not usually accustomed to sniffing substances into my nose, I’m no Kate Moss! However, when I was younger and at my grandmother’s house I became amazed at her practice of taking snuff… a habit that might have been thought to have died out with the dandys and the highwaymen… or indeed the dandy highwaymen! Something taken by our forefathers, great novelists, artists and politicians of the 1800s perhaps. So to see the ample frame of my grandmother, her long grey hair tied into a plait, taking some of the brown powdery substance and sniffing it so as to raise a tumultuous sneeze was something which left me with fascination and a desire to try some for myself. I had never really been much interested in smoking with the other girls behind F’ block at school, in fact I thought it was a nasty habit, and it wasn’t until I was around 18 and in the 6th form that I thought I would give it a try! Despite being 18, an adult by all accounts and more than legal for most activities, despite working every weekend in a local bar, and despite having chosen my own path education wise, I was still eager to hide my new found habit from my mum. Although she isn’t a scary character, not stern, but loving and kind and easy going, I still felt it was some form of betrayal, some indication I was doing something which I should not be! So for all of 2 weeks, I hid my smoking from her, and after 2 weeks I didn’t smoke any more because I really didn’t like it… in fact, why had I done it in the first place?? I’ll never know! However still I had the fascination with snuff! Off I went to Salts, a local tobacconist, and not just any old run of the mill tobacconist, but an old fashioned type, with all manner of tobacco displayed in sweet jars, enticing you to try some, pipes hung in dark corners of the shop and Cuban cigars winking from behind glass encased cabinets! I remember asking the middle aged man, with his cigar in his hand if he sold snuff! I was sure that with it being a tobacco product, this is the place I would find it. “Yes” He replied “And what sort would you like? We have tobacco free, raspberry flavour, apricot flavour, and menthol, soft, coarse………” The list was endless, but something with a raspberry flavouring sounded wonderful! That was the one I took, it was something ridiculous like £1.20, not nearly as expensive as cigarettes. Outside I took a small sniff… it tingled, and then AAAACCCCCCHHHHHHOOOOOO. That was it, the head clearing sneeze… wow this stuff was fantastic why had I not found it before? Now, 6 years on, I still love snuff, I have a tub of it sitting in the bottom of my Louis Vuitton bag, and although it’s not something I partake of all the time (I learned from past mistakes that too much makes your throat and nose sore) I still like some every now and then, to clear my head, to make me tingle and just because with every sniff I can imagine harking back to a time when courting lasted 10 years, when to drop ones handkerchief was considered a come on, when men opened doors and asked for the pleasure of a dance! My own little fantasy world in a tiny tub of Snuff

 Chav

A term I use quite freely is that of Chav... to those who are from England, they probably know the term well, or maybe some of them don't. Generally you can spot a chav a mile off by his blatant disply of Burberry, cheap gold jewellery and in the case of the chavettes, slicked back hair! It has been mentioned that my blatant display of labels could be verging on Chav... and this I accept, although by no means am I full blown chav lol! Anyway you can find a proper definition of chav at various internet sites... although beware, these can be offensive!
