Lady Louise's A-List Life

 Weekend

Hello all, as you can see I must have be run off my feet just lately putting blogs up and forgetting to write anything in them, what a plank! The thing is I can’t even remember what it was I wanted to put in that blog, so it obviously wasn’t that important was it?

Anyway, it’s 4.00 on Monday, and I’ve been super busy today which is why I haven’t got round to updating you on my weekend yet! I had a super weekend!

Friday night I went out with lover boy, we went to Turmeric Gold. Turmeric Gold is this fantastic Indian restaurant in Coventry which has rave reviews and has been included in lots of restaurant guides like Reuters and stuff, anyway the ambiance is fab and we had booked one of the special Maharaja’s tents. These are Indian tents with lots of cushions and a canopy all in silk in gold’s and pinks; you sit in these and are treated like royalty for the night. It was great, the service was wonderful and I think I can safely say we both had a beautiful time and a beautiful meal… particularly the king prawn puree… Sweet pea hates prawns but I love them, and the puree in Turmeric Gold is the best I have ever tasted in any Indian restaurant… and since I worked where I do now that is a whole lot of Indian restaurants.

Saturday daytime, I popped into town, and managed to be thoroughly horrible to my sweetheart, which was ashame after the lovely night we had had the night before… so when it came to going out on Saturday night he wasn’t the happiest of people. Happily he did cheer up though and have a good time… I think!

So Saturday night we went for a night out in Leamington. I’m sure you have noticed the way I slate the nightspots in Coventry quite often? So we decided that we would opt for a change of scenery and head for nearby Leamington, Leamington is meant to be a major part of the midlands golden triangle, meaning there are more millionaires and prospective millionaires there per postcode or something like that… anyway, it’s quite an affluent area of the Midlands. That’s fab as it means I wouldn’t feel out of place wearing my black silk dress! We started off in a somewhat studenty pub, think it was called the jester and something, anyway it had a fantastic atmosphere, then we went to a pub called the avenue, which was good as the barman was a bit mad and kept throwing jelly sweets out (in celebration of Halloween I think), then we went off to the nightclub… Evolve! I had heard mixed things about this club, but the pictures on the internet were looking good (if you go to www.google.com and do a search for evolve Leamington it will come up and you can have a look). So anyway, it was really fab, there was me, mum and Peter and the crowd was pretty cool in there, unlike Coventry everyone was dressed up quite nice, there were a few questionable outfits, like scarves worn as tops and very bare midriffs… and also a penchant for blonde hair dye and fake tan, but in general I didn’t feel out of place at all, I do when I go Coventry because no one dresses up at all in Coventry, but most people looked pretty good on Saturday night!

Then yesterday I just had a clear out, sorted through clothes, shoes and bags that I haven’t used for a long time to donate to friends who want them! It’s no use me keeping things I don’t use much, especially when other people would want them, often I give it to the charity shop, but sometimes I know friends will want the stuff instead. The clocks have gone back now as well, which means winter is well and truly here and it is getting dark already! How depressing!

 Mario Testino - Photographer

Well, finally it is Friday, yey! I’ve taken to listening to BBC Radio 4 in my car on the way to and from work in the mornings just lately. It’s because I never seem to have time to pick up a newspaper and it is a really topical radio station… yesterday they were discussing Prince Charles’ comments on the supermarkets contribution to farming problems… see I even remember the things which are said on it, so it’s probably better than a newspaper. Anyway, I was late for work this morning, and I am glad I was because on the radio they were interviewing the wonderful photographer, Mario Testino and something struck me, he said in the interview that while at Uni he had studied Economics and Law. Locally, there is a lawyer who has now given up being a lawyer and instead has opened Coventry’s first (and only) image consultancy, and there are many more stories like this. I myself have a degree in Law and Social Policy (although I know you wouldn’t think it from my blog), and yet my heart lies with fashion and photography really, perhaps I am destined for more creative things… perhaps I would be more happy if I followed my desire to be a photographer, but then again, it’s a hard slog isn’t it to get noticed… I’d sooner do my day job maybe and then stage my own exhibitions in local galleries and bars, there are a few bars in Coventry that display work of local artists, so it’s worth approaching some of them I guess. I just find it a strange coincidence that so many trained Lawyers venture out into much more creative fields of work!

 Poorly bear

I haven’t written a proper blog today have I? Actually I don’t suppose I need write one every day do I? I just feel that I need to say something regularly, I’m a bit like that in real life too, always feel the need to say something, even if it’s something stupid.

So I already said I went to take some photos of my friends’ son on Tuesday night. It was really difficult because despite having all the kit as regards camera and lenses and filters, I don’t have the correct lighting equipment for portraits! I used to love doing them when I was first learning photography at school, but that was different because we had all the proper kit, and to be fair I wasn’t really feeling on form. I’ve been feeling a little run down of late as I think I am running around too much! I have been taking my vitamin C and zinc, but nonetheless, yesterday was a culmination of just doing too much! So I just lay in bed for most of the day feeling sorry for myself! Until the evening that is, I struggled and dragged myself out of the house and to the local cinema, determined that I was not going to miss ‘Wallace and Grommit and the Curse of the Were-Rabbit’. I’m so glad I went to, it was bloody fantastic. So so funny, it’s one of those cartoons that although it’s for children is still aimed quite a lot at adults too! Hilarious, really my sort of humor, I did feel though like me, Peter and my mum were the only ones laughing, maybe we just have the loudest laughs as Peter was sure other people were laughing too!

I still feel wrecked though… how can I be wrecked from going the pictures? No surely it’s not just that, it will be the whole running around thing! Anyway thank heaven, I have no plans tonight. Bliss, I will have a nice hot bath read some of my vanity fair book (which I am quite enjoying even though I am no further than chapter 5) and have an early night! I have my final curtain making assignment to do as well so I might try to fit that in too… but not trying too hard I don’t want to end up not getting to bed until 12am as I usually do! Then tomorrow I have only half a day in work… hurrah!

 Girly blog and Advertising

I hadn’t realised that my shopping antics were so annoying to people out there until today! I wasn’t in work yesterday so there was no blog (the night before I had been out taking some photographs for a friend whose son is in the army, she wanted some pictures of him in uniform before he goes back). When I got back I had 2 comments, one saying it’s a girly blog… well yes it is, but then there are plenty of bloke blogs out there too! I’d like to try and write you a bloke blog.. but I fear it would be pants, being as I am in fact not a bloke! But then the second comment asked me if I was paid to advertise things? I can only assume that this is because I wanted to share my favourite websites with you all! Well, at least I think that is what it’s about! If only I was paid to advertise, I could afford to buy much more of the products I ‘supposedly’ advertise in my blog!

I’d just like to let you loyal blog fans know though, that I am just a normal English woman, I’m not paid by anyone to mention any brands, but the brands I mention are an integral part of my life (that’s what happens when you live in a consumer economy, as I’m sure my blog commentor in the USA is well aware of… especially considering that when I visited his blog it was talking about shopping!) and seeing as my blog is about my life, then I include it! Sorry if it offends!
