Hello blog fans!!! (Me blowing my own trumpet again) It seems like forever since I last blogged and yet it was only Friday! I have a had a busy time of it though!
Friday, well after work I scooted home and got ready to take my boyfriend, who was a karaoke virgin to … well a karaoke! I wore the lovely new GAP jeans he bought me for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and my black and white satin Chinese style top! Anyway, the karaoke is just at a local pub, there are no prizes or anything, but it’s super fun! We topped the night off by doing a duet ‘something stupid’ … I think we successfully managed to make half of the pub vomit with our sever romance, but we had a great time!
Saturday, I took my mum shopping in Birmingham! (for those of you who don’t really know the UK, there are 3 major shopping cities, London, Birmingham and Manchester, the closest to us here in Coventry is Birmingham… that isn’t to say that Coventry doesn’t have some good shops of it’s own, Wish, Stomp and VIP to name but a few, but Birmingham has Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and the Louis Vuitton shop). Anyway, so we started off at the mailbox where I discovered a shop called ‘Thomas Pink’…. ever heard of it? I had heard of it only through reading about it in my Vanity Fair magazine, never had I visited one! It is lovely, they sell gorgeous shirts, ties and cuff links for both women and men, and I was quite taken with the place… I have a strange obsession with cuff links, they are a fabulous contraption and I have always been secretly jealous that my boyfriend gets to wear them and I don’t! Well, now I do because Thomas Pink sell shirts for women that take them… how fab! I didn’t get one at the time because I couldn’t afford it! There was so much that I fell in love with there which I couldn’t afford, Harvey Nichols has the latest range of Gucci bags in stock too… they are fab, I’d love one, but at £690 I fear I should only look! I suppose I shouldn’t complain really, I do have my fair share of designer handbags! From Mailbox we headed up towards the ever enthralling ‘Louis Vuitton’ oh yes such joy! And then hit Selfridges! I always love Selfridges, I was pricing up an ibook G4 which is gorgeous, and an ipod nano… I have quite a bit of saving to do! (which reminds me… where have I been this month that has me so far into my overdraft already could someone tell me?)… All I came home with was a dozen krispy kreme donuts (mmmmmmmmmmmmm) and a birthday card and a card for my friends wedding! Nothing else :o( Better wait until the January sales I guess!
Sunday I was out drinking again, just to the local pub, the greyhound, it’s a very picturesque pub set on a canal junction, just lovely! It was here that I tried Bombay Sapphire gin… I’ve heard so much about it (again from Vanity Fair) but have never tasted it.. ooh it’s lovely, give it a try!
Then finally yesterday (Monday) was back to work, and to start the week I was in London at meetings… the joy of this was I got to travel on the train with my sweetheart… the pain was the by the time the meeting was over I was too exhausted to get to Smythson of Bond Street…. Not to worry, I sent my mail order to them lastnight ha ha ha ha! I’m a girl that will not be kept from shopping or from spending money!

I seem to be having a lot of exciting experiences just lately! Yesterday was our work ‘away day’. I have to be truthful, I was really not looking forward to it, the weather is grotty here, and we were going to ‘Adventure Sports’ in Warwick to do a day of outdoor activities. All I had were visions of me ending up in some groggy old pond freezing, wet and just waiting to catch a cold. I am pleased that it most definitely wasn’t like that at all!
We started the day with some basic team building activities… you know the like, getting your team from one side of an obstacle course to another and stuff. But much more exciting was the 4x4 off road driving! Now I am dead set against 4x4s, but only the damn urban ones, the ones that mums fill with their children to do the school run, and I have to say the fact that one of my school friends was killed by one doesn’t help! However, being as this vehicle was being used for it’s purpose ie: off road, then I didn’t mind too much! I was a little afraid of it, but when I jumped into the muddy drivers seat and began to drive I really started to enjoy it… adventure Lou, that’s me lol! Then we went onto Archery, now that really is fun, I can imagine possibly taking that up as a hobby at sometime in the future, although I have woken up this morning with an almighty pain in my right arm, I am convinced that it was the archery which did that, the pulling on the string! But nonetheless I did take to it immensely! We did lots of fun activities, it was fantastic. I feel as though I have now got a little bit of adventure out of my system… well I do and I don’t, I asked my boyfriend if he fancied taking up skiing lessons this morning, I’m not sure if he said no or just alluded to his abilities on ice skates! But that would be fun!

It’s 4.18 pm English time when I am writing this blog entry (I know that some of you readers are from the states, and also that this site puts the states times on rather than UK ones)… I am sitting in my office, having spent the day typing and sending out emails I’m liberating a spot of me time! I’m out tonight… again! I seem to spend more time out of the house than in it just lately! Tonight though is a work do, we are going to Flamingo bar and grill which is an Indian restaurant, about 20 of us… we do these things regular on my team, but we always seem to end up in an Indian restaurant, it would be nice to go somewhere different for a change! I’m glad that I arranged the Christmas meal or else I fear we would have ended up doing Indian for Christmas too! Perhaps it would be nice to try some Mexican or something! Anyway so what do I wear? (That’s the important question). There is a mixture of people going, male, female, young, older, and no one that I feel I have to impress! So should I dress down a bit? However I know that usually my acquaintances expect me to dress up more than everyone else out… and also we are going onto Prague (bar) afterwards, that is a posers paradise so I am sure I really should make the effort. But I’m so tired, my hair is greasy and I have a break out! I leave work at 5pm,. Won’t get home until 6 as I will inevitably get stuck in traffic, and then I have to be back in town for 7… I’m going to look a minger! But that still doesn’t answer the question of what to wear? Jeans and a glitzy top? Denim skirt and a glitzy top? Oh I don’t know! I’ll decide when I have washed my hair…. Looks like I’m going to be fashionably late!

Well on Sunday I had a fantastic time. I was going to the movie premier of Nanny McPhee which was having it’s first UK screening at the UCI empire. Me and my mum travelled down to London earlyish in the day and the journey was horrific, the train was so packed that I had to stand the entire distance from Coventry to London in purple satin stiletto shoes (I knew I should have driven). The only people however who seemed to be standing were myself, my mum and 3 chaps in tuxedos… unfortunately the cheap looking blonde in her dodgy jeans who insisted on giving me strange looks for the majority of the journey had nabbed a seat!!!
Finally when we did get to London and get some food, then it wasn’t all that bad! We met up with my friend Jenny who had organised the tickets for us, and her boyfriend Gareth. Once we were let through the barriers, it was fantastic, we walked up the blue carpet (they must have run out of red) while cameras, crowds and photographers looked on, one could almost fool themselves into thinking they were famous. Once inside, it was pure luxury with free food and drinks and games for children!
The film was fantastic and I would recommend anyone to see it. But afterwards the fun really started, I met Stephen Fry, the wonderful English actor/writer who is so intelligent, I was graced to be allowed to have a photograph with him, meanwhile my mum had her eye on the gorgeous Colin Firth, and luckily she managed to get a photograph with him too! I have to say, both of them were such polite and lovely people!
After tea at my friends flat in Finsbury Park, we then had the task of getting home on that dodgy train again, we ran into the guys in tuxedos who invited us to a party in their carriage, but my feet were just too sore. I chilled out all the way home grateful to fall into the arms of my lovely boyfriend back at Coventry station! Another day well spent!
