Lady Louise's A-List Life

 Manchester, Canley and diets

Well hello folks, it’s been a bit of time since I last updated you, but my life has been totally hectic this past week, both professionally and personally… so I thought that while I have a quiet few moments this Monday morning (not something I can often claim to have of late) that I would just let you know I’m still here and let you know how my weekend was.

Saturday I went to Manchester for the day with mum. The Trafford Centre it’s a great big shopping centre just off the M60 motorway… anyway, we trawled all of the shops, I was really pleased with the couple of purchases I made, some new pink shoes, they are like satin ballet shoes, and are nice a low heeled for comfort (although as you all can probably guess… I’m quite happy to sacrifice comfort when a pair of Jimmy Choos comes my way) and some fab beige trousers from Zara. I have such a problem buying trousers, being a tall gal they never fit, so I was so glad that this pair looked so good, I couldn’t give them up! Selfridges in Manchester is so much better than the Birmingham version. They had these shoes that I desperately wanted to buy for my holiday to Australia later this year. They were flat Gucci flip flops, but they had a wide band which was all fabulously decorated in flowers, they were reduced from £250 to £59… what a bargain, but I couldn’t justify it, not when I am in the middle of trying desperately to clear the ball and chain that is my overdraft! We didn’t get home until late that night… we were so wrecked it was unbelievable, but we had a nice day out!

Sunday (yesterday) when I returned home to Peter, we planned to go out and get some dinner then to go and take photographs at Canley ford… which is kind of a local beauty spot! Anyway, we went and met Peter’s family for dinner (which was a fab surf and turf which totally put the first knife into my increasingly non existent diet). Then I drove up towards Canley ford… Getting out of the car though, Peter broke the news that … he had forgotten to pack any film for the camera!!!! Wonderful!!! So we went to the local shopping centre to try to get some… but we ended up having a shopping detour! Peter bought me some fab jeans but most importantly a gorgeous Fenn Wright Manson cocktail dress… it’s all dark grey taffeta, it will look so fab when I where it out… maybe into town or to a party or something! Peter bought a fab jacket for himself, a Lagerfeld one… very swish!

Anyway, we finally got back to the ford before the light had gone, but unfortunately there wasn’t really as much subject matter there as we had thought there would be… so home we went!

In the evening we had a lovely time, we put our gladrags on and head off to the local pub… unfortunately the second knife was plunged into my diet when we shared a curry before bedtime… harrumph… I’ve got a lot of work to do this week to back that bulge off again!

Anyway, it’s been a bit of a trying time this past week, so I’m hoping that this coming week is 100 times better!

Gucci and Pucci and Prada... oh my!

In an ideal world I would eat Subway each and every day for lunch… a different filling each day of course, I would dessert on Krispy Kream donuts each day, and would still be a size 12 (UK) clothes. I would never go to work, but would wear Gucci and Pucci and Prada. I would travel to a different country in each season, and read lots of really interesting books and be highly educated and invited to every cool party in the world!

Who says I’m shallow? lol

 Sunday Sunday

Well folks, as promised I said I would update you on Sunday. Sunday morning we had intended to make a start on clearing out our bedroom… however, the sun was beating down so brightly through our window that we decided a day out in the country would be far better activity!

So off we went with the dog to [[LINK; Charlecote Park, http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-charlecotepark/]] for a walk, it was brisk, but it was lovely to be out there in the country. Peter took quite a few photographs, but I was just taking in the scenery really, the river, the manor, the wild deer! A few people stopped to talk to us about Prudence (she’s an Airedale, they seem to attract a lot of attention) and before we knew it the day was drawing to a close. So we stopped off at the Saxon Mill on the way home, we had a delicious Pizza and chips (very naughty considering my dieting position) where more people were interested in our little scamp… Pru! I felt really dowdy in the Saxon Mill… I’d dressed for a walk in the country, and the mill is pretty swish… actually I’m not totally happy with my clothing situation at the moment, I think perhaps I will start looking out for some key pieces to add to my wardrobe, at the moment it’s not too wonderful, although is it wise to be buying clothes when I am dieting anyway, although I’m not intending to lose lots of weight! Hmmmm, well lets see… although my new Jeans which I wore out on Saturday night are lovely! Anyway, enough of my moaning about clothes and dieting, it’s another week now… be warned, I have started reading Debutante Divorcees, the follow up novel to Plum Sykes’ Bergdorf Blondes (which I loved) so a review might well be on it’s way!

 Prudence stole my smoothie

Well folks, I thought I would do you a super fast update before I head off up the wooden hill to blanket street (that's bed to us normal folkage)

So... my weekend... Well Saturday I took mum shopping in Stratford, we didn't get there until pretty late in the afternoon because I may have ever so slightly overslept! Anyway, for all of use being late, we managed to get round more of the shops we usually miss... like the antiques arcade where I saw this totally fabulous cross (I know darling Peter bought me a fabulous cross for Christmas... but this one was fabulous too) it was silver with opals in (my birthstone) and cubic zirconia... oooh spangle fandangle! Also saw some lovely gold charms, I really do need to get some more to put on my charm bracelet... but more importantly I saw some great vintage hats, totally 1930s skullcaps encrusted with sequins and the like... just what would I wear them with? I mean really, is it ever so slightly passe to wear a vintage 1950s frock with a vintage 1930s hat? should one really mix her decades in such a careless manner

anyway, I didn't make any purchases, although mum bought some excellent new shoes from posh bootier, Jones the boot maker!

saturday night, I had booked a table at the reputedly upmarket curry house, the Royal Bengal. So as this place was meant to have such an upmarket reputation, you can imagine our disdain when we were seated next to the kitchen... and were that not bad enough... the table wobbled . Hmmm, the manager didn't really try to help us when we requested to be moved to the table for 2 which was in the window... so we decided to relocate, out of the Royal Bengal and into the nearby Bombay Palace (curry houses are in abundance in Coventry). The meal here was delightful (at least the chaps there know how to treat a lady ) Peter and I shared a gorgeous curry, it was cooked with brandy.... yum. Unfortunately our eyes were bigger than our bellys, and we couldn't finish the copious amount of side orders! We topped off the night in Careys (a local nightclub) before heading home!

I'm going to go and get some beauty sleep now (I could be a while ) and I'll update on my lovely Sunday, tomorrow... however if you are querying the title of this entry then let me tell you. I made myself a glorious banana smoothie this evening, but when I left the room to make a cup of tea, Prudence, our pet dog, drank my smoothie.... mmmm, just what I want a lovely healthy smoothie with essence of Pru breath lingering around the rim of the glass... she got the rest of the smoothie... she is now asleep contented and flatulent in front of the fire... slumbering!

 Prospects for 2007

Anyway, it seems such a long time ago now that I’m not going to regale you with any further tales of Christmas and New Year. I haven’t even made any New Years resolutions, although I have started a bit of a diet… I’m hoping this is going to be a really exciting year which will give you all lots to read and perhaps I can get back on track with my A-list life! :o)
