Lady Louise's A-List Life

 Cry me a river
Back to Full Blog

Friday night was fantastic! I had half day leave, so I left at 1pm from work and spent the afternoon preening myself ready for the concert! I had already thought about what I was to wear, the new Karen Millen city shorts which Peter had bought for me from Selfridges a couple of weeks previous! During the late afternoon I found myself being a bit hectic, but come 5:45 Sarah and I were on our way to Birmingham!

I hate driving into Birmingham as a rule, it’s not so bad if you take the A45, but coming off the M6 and onto the ring road and finding your way to the NIA can be a bit of a headache! Luckily though we managed to get there on time, having talked all the way there and listened to music and just generally had fun! Unluckily, there was torrential rain when we alighted the car and all I had brought as a means of cover was a pashmina… hmmmm wise dressing Lou! By the time we walked along the canal at Brindley place and up to the NIA we were both rather soaked… getting inside though it was packed! The first place we had to find was the merchandise counter as Sarah wanted to spend some birthday money on a T-shirt! Then as we got to our seats we were moved to better seats (bonus) because all the tickets hadn’t sold!

The crowd was filled with anticipation as the support acts played, but then the lights went down, big mesh screens descended over the cross shaped stage and images began being displayed on them, the music came up then Justin came up through the floor of the stage… I turned and looked at Sarah, she was beaming.

Justin played a fantastic performance, the crowd was going wild (and believe me it was a crowd, the place was packed, easily about 10000 people there). He danced with his dance troop, he played piano, and guitar and sang and the guy is just so talented. He played all his well known tunes and people (us included) danced by our seats and sang and screamed. The atmosphere was electric and Sarah even said it was the best concert she had ever been to. The hours seemed to fly by as Justin as his troop shimmied about on the stage, and the bass line of some wonderful songs hit the crowds. Timbaland supported halfway through and performed the Justin/Nelly F/Timbaland tune that is in the charts now. The concert lasted out until almost 11:30pm.

On the way out, we bought 2 huge Justin Timberlake posters and glided (it was no longer raining) on streams of elation back to the car, ears ringing, but happy! Sarah is determined that if he ever comes back we go again, I’m just really glad I got to see such a wonderful performer!

I stopped going to concerts for a long time, and then just over a year ago I started again, I went to Bon Jovi with mum, then Bryan Ferry with mum, and now Justin Timberlake with Sarah! It’s great fun, I want to go to lots more!

The rest of the weekend pretty much paled in comparison to Friday night!
